FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which surface finishes does mirrorINOX offer?
We produce longitudinal, transverse, cross-grain and HAIRLINE finishes in grit sizes from 36 to 600, as well as brushed and Duplo finishes. Whether fine satin finishing for architectural applications or coarse grit sizes for technical applications, every finish is produced to customer specifications and documented.
What surface roughness values can be achieved by grinding?
mirrorINOX grinds stainless steel to surface roughness values ranging from Ra 0.05 µm to Ra 5.8 µm – including high-gloss finishes (Ra < 0.1). These values are required in the pharmaceutical and food industries, cleanroom technology and medical technology. Custom finishes tailored to individual customer requirements are available.
What dimensions can be ground?
We operate four grinding lines with different capacities. The largest line grinds sheets up to 2,000 mm wide and 8,000 mm long, with thicknesses of up to 12 mm – with a longitudinal, transverse or cross-grain finish.
Which materials does mirrorINOX grind?
Primarily stainless steel in grades 1.4016, 1.4162, 1.4301/1.4307, 1.4401,
1.4404, 1.4462, 1.4509, 1.4539, 1.4571.
Double-sided finishing is available on request.
How does mirrorINOX ensure reproducibility in grinding?
The gloss level and surface roughness of each individual sheet are measured and documented. This ensures maximum reproducibility—even for large-scale projects covering several thousand square metres or for repeat orders placed at a later date.
Which industries are ground stainless steel surfaces suitable for?
Ground finishes are used in façade and elevator construction, shopfitting and exhibition stand construction, shipbuilding and yacht building, as well as in medical and cleanroom technology. In technically demanding environments such as the pharmaceutical or food industry, extremely low Ra values are often mandatory.
