PVD/TiN Coating

PVD/TiN coatings create durable coloured finishes on stainless steel in Champagne-TiN, Gold-TiN, Rose Gold-TiN, Bronze-TiN and Black-TiN. High hardness as well as UV and corrosion resistance make them the ideal solution for architecture, engineering and design.

Properties

  • Environmentally friendly, non-toxic process

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PVD coating and TiN coating?

Both terms refer to the same process – physical vapor deposition. TiN refers to titanium nitride, a compound of titanium and nitrogen that is typically golden yellow. PVD is the umbrella term for all vacuum-based thin-film technologies.

Why is PVD/TiN coating more sustainable than electroplating?

PVD/TiN coating does not use any toxic or environmentally harmful substances—unlike electroplating processes such as the INCO process. This makes PVD/TiN the first choice for projects with sustainability requirements and simplifies disposal throughout the product life cycle.

Which colours are available for PVD/TiN coating?

We offer Champagne-TiN, Gold-TiN, Rose Gold-TiN, Bronze-TiN and Black-TiN as standard colours. Custom colours are available for specific projects. The LAB colour values of each sheet are recorded, ensuring maximum reproducibility, even for repeat orders.

Which base finishes can PVD/TiN coatings be applied to?

PVD/TiN can be applied to virtually any base finish: ground, brushed, blasted, mirror-polished, patterned, pattern-rolled, fluidformed and more. Combining the base finish with a PVD colour opens up virtually unlimited design possibilities.

Can PVD/TiN-coated sheets be further processed after coating?

Yes. PVD/TiN-coated sheets can be laser-cut, folded, punched, bent and formed after coating—without damaging the coating. This makes them ideal for complex architectural and design projects with custom forming requirements.

In which industries is PVD/TiN coating used?

Architecture and façade construction, the elevator industry, medical technology, the sanitary sector, the automotive industry and art. Wherever vibrant metallic colours are required – indoors or outdoors, durable and without the need for subsequent sealing.

How does mirrorINOX ensure colour consistency in large-scale projects?

The LAB colour values of each individual sheet are measured and documented. This ensures consistent colour results across large areas and for repeat orders – a decisive advantage for façade and architectural projects with exacting uniformity requirements.
