Frequently Asked Questions
What advantages does stainless steel offer in vehicle construction?
Stainless steel combines high strength with corrosion resistance and thermal resilience. This makes it suitable even in thin gauges for protective strips, battery covers and other heavily stressed components. Compared with plastics, it also offers greater dimensional stability and is fully recyclable.
What are the benefits of the nanoINOX® coating for vehicle interiors?
nanoINOX® reduces visible fingerprints and makes speaker grilles, trim panels and other interior components easier to clean. Incorporated colour pigments also enable custom shades while preserving the surface’s metallic character.
We use a range of mechanical and chemical processes to create specific finishes. For high-gloss surfaces, we produce Perfect Mirror No. 10® (mirror polishing). Alternatively, we use processes such as grinding, brushing or glass bead blasting. For coloured surfaces, we use Europe’s largest PVD system to give components a durable, UV-resistant colour using a titanium nitride coating.
Depending on the desired appearance, mirror-polished finishes such as Perfect Mirror No. 10®, as well as ground, brushed or glass bead-blasted surfaces, are used. PVD/TiN coatings also enable coloured, UV-resistant finishes.
How does mirrorINOX support the development of prototypes and series-production components?
A range of surface finishing technologies is available for prototypes and production runs, including pattern rolling, grinding, polishing and PVD/TiN coatings. Multiple processing steps can be combined to suit the specific project, harmonising appearance and function. This creates finishes that can be reproduced consistently from the initial sample through to series production.
