FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is nanoINOX® and how does the coating work?

nanoINOX® is a nanocoating based on sol-gel technology, applied to the surface by mirrorINOX using a multi-head spray system. The 2–5 micrometre-thin coating is then cured at temperatures of up to 250°C in a continuous-flow oven. The result is a hard, dirt-repellent seal with a lotus effect—available in transparent or various colour shades.

What is the difference between CLEAR nanoINOX® and the colored finishes?

CLEAR nanoINOX® is completely transparent – it protects the base surface without altering its appearance. Ideal as invisible protection for mirror-polished or brushed surfaces. Coloured versions such as Champagne Classique, Abyss Black or Gold Rosé also modify the colour tone and open up design possibilities on virtually any base surface.

Which industries and applications is nanoINOX® suitable for?

Architecture, the elevator industry, shopfitting and exhibition stand construction, kitchens and catering, sanitary and wellness facilities, yacht and shipbuilding, plant and mechanical engineering, medical technology, the automotive and electrical industries, as well as art projects. Wherever surfaces are subject to daily wear and cleaning costs are a consideration.

How does nanoINOX® differ from electroplated coatings?

Electroplating processes use toxic and environmentally harmful substances. nanoINOX® does not require these—the coating is free from harmful substances, food-safe and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. In addition, nanoINOX®-coated sheets can be further processed after coating: laser-cut, folded, punched, bent and formed.

How does mirrorINOX ensure color consistency with nanoINOX®?

SolGel technology enables consistent colour reproduction regardless of the substrate material – even for large quantities and across different substrate batches. This is crucial for façade and architectural projects where hundreds of panels must create a uniform appearance.

Can nanoINOX® be combined with PVD/TiN coating or Eco Etching?

Yes. nanoINOX® can be combined with PVD/TiN colour coatings and Eco-Etching designs – as additional protection for pre-finished surfaces or as a standalone colour coating. CLEAR nanoINOX® is particularly suitable as a final protective layer on PVD/TiN-coated surfaces in high-traffic areas such as elevators or railway stations.

What special technical features does nanoINOX® offer?

In addition to anti-fingerprint and easy-to-clean properties, the incorporation of various elements allows further characteristics to be tailored: electrical insulation, antibacterial properties, increased chemical resistance and temperature stability. This is a decisive advantage for specialised requirements in medical technology, pharmaceuticals or the electrical industry.
